Understanding Crowns & Bridges

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that fits over a damaged or weakened tooth to restore its function and appearance. Crowns can strengthen cracked, broken or root-canal-treated teeth and last 5–15 years with proper care. A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth with a fixed appliance anchored by crowns on the adjacent teeth (or implants). Bridges not only restore chewing and speech, they prevent neighbouring teeth from shifting.

Types of Crowns & Bridges

Types of Crowns:

Metal crowns – exceptionally durable; ideal for back teeth; metallic colour is visible.

Porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) – combines metal strength with a tooth-coloured porcelain exterior.

Pressed ceramic / all-ceramic / zirconia – highly aesthetic and metal-free; good for people with metal allergies.

Same-day crowns – CAD/CAM-milled from ceramic while you wait.
